Cider Saturday w/ John Lackard!

We're excited to welcome John Lackard back to Stowe Cider for our Cider Saturday music series 4/13 from 4pm -7pm! Join us for a fun evening of live music and fresh cider!

This is a free show, first come first served, and you're welcome to stay for as long as you'd like! No outside food or drink is allowed.

About John:
A sound and style that could easily have come from Memphis or Chicago is perhaps what makes John Lackard and his Green Mountain origin so unique. Not just another trip on the “Blues Bandwagon” that is so ever popular today. This is the real thing.
His apparent connection and understanding began when his father brought the Boogie Woogie piano and records into the household, and started a career that has lasted over half of a century. John’s first real musical instrument at the age of five was a Hohner harmonica. Being only eight when he went to work selling greeting cards for points toward a plastic electric guitar. It was followed by a Silvertone “Stella” 12 string acoustic guitar when he was nine. During this time, John moved next door to Buddy Truax, jazz guitarist of “Buddy Truax And The Playboys”. This early influence was enhanced by Buddy’s sons who played bass and drums, providing a rhythm section to jam with in addition to Buddy’s informal “lessons”. By age fifteen he was ready for his first professional stage appearance. Touring New York and New England for a few years led to a stint with Sam the Sham, sit-ins with James Cotton, Jimmy Rogers and Bob Margolin, working with Cotton’s drummer as Ken Johnson and Co., in addition to opening shows for Jimmy and James as well as countless others. After which Jimmy declared “That boy kicks the hell out of the Blues!” James simply stated, “The Blues is in Vermont”. Currently in process of recording a CD, one of the tracks titled “I Wanna Go Back” can be heard on the compilation album “Best of The Green Mountain Blues Vol. 1”. The future promises a continued extensive touring schedule that previously prompted a radio D.J. to proclaim the John Lackard Blues Band “The Hardest Working Blues Band in New England”.

Friday Night Music w/ Minced Oats!

We're excited to welcome Minced Oats to our Friday Night Live Music series 4/12 from 5-8PM! Join us for a fun evening of live music and fresh cider!

This is a free show, first come first served, and you're welcome to stay for as long as you'd like! No outside food or drink is allowed.

About Minced Oats:
Minced Oats is a VT-based bluegrass group, born from a jam-session on a porch, in a quiet little neighborhood, as a safe means of continuing to play music during an unpredictable world during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Founding members Stephen Bernard (Mandolin), Willy Watson (Guitar) and Matt Speroni (Bass) formed a communicative musical bond resulting in innovative string music spanning the traditional ideal and pushing a unique style for the future, while rooting themselves in tradition. After meeting local banjo mainstay, Thomas Bryce, the four began formulating the blueprint for an ideal Bluegrass band. Thomas's driving banjo rolls and traditional sensibilities brought new life to their existing catalog, while introducing them to a whole range of banjo-centric instrumental tunes. At the start of the new year in 2023, they were joined by local violinist extraordinaire, Tim Swanson, to take on the role of "Bluegrass Fiddler" with his multi-genre background, and hauntingly beautiful dynamics. The band immediately became a family and a beautiful musical partnership, while catapulting themselves as frontrunners in the Vermont Bluegrass scene. As a result, they have earned themselves nominations for 2023 "Best Bluegrass Artist" and "Best Country Artist" for Vermont's coveted "Seven Daysies Awards", and continue to pave the path forward on what defines themselves as a true Bluegrass group in the Vermont music scene, and beyond.

LAZY BIRD

We’re stoked to welcome Lazy Bird to the Tuned Up Winter Concert Series at Shakedown Street. Bring your friends and family and come on down to jam out with us on March 23rd at 8PM.

About Lazy Bird:

Creative, charismatic, and certainly funky — these are just a few of the words that describe the young and upcoming band known as Lazy Bird. Hailing from the quaint yet musically inclined city of Burlington, Vermont, Lazy Bird’s astounding ability to improvise leads to a completely distinctive listening experience each performance. The band cut their teeth with dorm room jams at the University of Vermont led by guitaristJackson Bower and Saxophonist Matt Cincotta. Shortly after, Lazy Bird found themselves traveling across the American Northeast to play with up and coming bandsDogs in a Pile, Eggy, and Yam Yam.

The members’ love and respect for one another resonates with the crowd and invites any and everyone to dance along. Lazy Bird thrives on musical exploration, risks, and experimentation, and they specialize in a jam genre that is heavily inspired by funk, jazz, and soul. Lazy Bird has plunged headfirst into the music scene of New England while maintaining a unique sound of its own. The meshing of each band member’s spirited talent provides an upbeat and joyous environment wherever they perform. Each one of Jackson Bower’s guitar string sleave a sweet flavor in the ear. The vibrant harmonies of Saxophonist, Matthew Cincotta, and Trumpeter, Justin Plakias, add a smoky ingredient to each song. Nodding your head would be impossible without the rock-steady beat of Tom Gladstone on bass and Cal McCandless on drums, complimenting each other and commanding the rhythm of the band. Lazy Bird’s harmonic soundscape culminates with the combination ofNashville native Will Grana on keyboard and Avery Rubin's powerful lead vocals. The popularizing group quickly captured the attention of a young Burlington audience while also satisfying the likes of old-school jam fans as well.
